Two sisters, aged ten and four, lost their lives in the fire of a single-family home in Mengerskirchen, Hesse. The ten-year-olds discovered rescue workers in the fire fighting in the house, as the police in Limburg announced. The child died in spite of immediate resuscitation attempts a little later at the fire site. The body of the four-year-old sister was found in the house.
According to the police, the five-year-old brother of the two girls had noticed the fire around 7 o'clock and informed his 30 and 27-year-old parents. Together with her son, the parents were able to leave the burning building. The parents and the boy were taken to the hospital for a medical examination and were given psychological care. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
