The Berlin doctor Fritz von Weizsäcker is about two weeks after the deadly attack on him buried in the forest cemetery in Dahlem. The memorial service for the son of former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker will take place on Monday, December 2, according to the family's death notice.
Fritz von Weizsäcker was stabbed to death in the Berlin Schlosspark-Klinik on 19 November. The 59-year-old chief physician gave a lecture there, as a man from the auditorium went on him. For the physician, any help came too late.
A policeman privately attending the lecture and trying to stop the attacker was seriously injured. The attacker had, according to findings of the investigative authorities "probably delusional" an antipathy to the family.
Fritz von Weizsäcker has been head of the Department of Internal Medicine I at the Schlosspark Clinic since 2005, after having worked in Freiburg, Boston and Zurich. From Weizsäcker's father Richard von Weizsäcker was from 1981 to 1984 Governing Mayor of Berlin and from 1984 to 1994 Federal President of the Federal Republic. He died on January 31, 2015. His final resting place is on the forest cemetery.
