Theft from the Green Vault: Police Dresden assumes four perpetrators

The Dresden police department confirmed on Wednesday media reports, according to which the investigators assume that a total of four perpetrators were involved in the jewelery robbery in Dresden.

On Tuesday, the investigators had confirmed that the perpetrators have fled the scene in an Audi A6. They later set the vehicle on fire in an underground car park, they said. The white car had been shut down by its owner 2017 in Saxony-Anhalt. "The man has nothing to do with the burglary," said Olaf Richter, head of the special commission of the police department Dresden.

The Dresden Residenzschloss is open again, but the Grünes Gewölbe remains closed. In the treasury continue to be forensic scientists at work to secure tracks. Only art experts of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen are allowed into the jewel room, which is now a crime scene.

Restorers are currently repairing the window through which the perpetrators entered the Historic Green Vault. The missing parts of the cut-out window grille are replaced.
