After the burglary into the treasury Green Vault in Dresden, the police started from four perpetrators. More than 200 clues to the spectacular theft have been received so far.

The Dresden police department confirmed on Wednesday media reports, according to which the investigators assume that a total of four perpetrators were involved in the jewelery robbery in Dresden.

In addition to the two perpetrators who are inside the residential castle on a surveillance video to see two other suspects have been outside the building.

The strangers had entered one of the barred windows in the Pretiosensaal of the famous museum. They ran purposefully into the jewel room, the most magnificent room of the treasury museum established by the Saxon Elector and Polish King Augustus the Strong (1670-1733). A surveillance video released by the police shows two burglars entering the dark room with flashlights. One of them hits the display case with an ax.

However, apart from the number of perpetrators, the investigators still lack a concrete track. So far, 205 references to the case have been received by the police. Continuously new ones would be added, they said. Images and videos related to the crime can be shared with the police on a portal. The police wanted to inform again on Wednesday afternoon about the state of the investigation.

On Tuesday, the investigators had confirmed that the perpetrators have fled the scene in an Audi A6. They later set the vehicle on fire in an underground car park, they said. The white car had been shut down by its owner 2017 in Saxony-Anhalt. "The man has nothing to do with the burglary," said Olaf Richter, head of the special commission of the police department Dresden.

The Dresden Residenzschloss is open again, but the Grünes Gewölbe remains closed. In the treasury continue to be forensic scientists at work to secure tracks. Only art experts of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen are allowed into the jewel room, which is now a crime scene.

Restorers are currently repairing the window through which the perpetrators entered the Historic Green Vault. The missing parts of the cut-out window grille are replaced.
