The Pixies made their first appearance in Israel in 2014, after canceling a scheduled performance in Israel in 2010. Three years later they came to us again, this time for two shows at the Caesarea Amphitheater in July 2017. In July 2020, they will return to us for the third time, loaded with material months following the release of their new album this year, "Beneath the Eyrie". Tickets for the concert will go up from NIS 259 in the early sale, and the sale will open tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8am on the Event site.

The Pixies was established in 1986 in Massachusetts and created a rough and unique alternative rock. The four members of the band that started out together were Black Francis in vocals and guitar, David Lavering with drums and percussion, Joey Santiago on guitar and keyboards and Kim Deal with bass and background vocals. In 1993, after a period of artistic disagreement between Francis and Deal, the vocalist announced in a televised interview about breaking up the band, without updating his bandmates before the dramatic announcement.

In the few years that the band operated, he released an EP and four full albums, all of which have become milestones in rock history in general and this is independent in particular. Despite the unflattering sound and controversial issues that the Pixies sang (which included the presence of religious references and imagery and poignant statements about sexuality and violence), the band became a major global success and became one of the sound formers of those years. After the breakup, the friends went on to solo careers - Francis released albums under the name Frank Black, Kim Dill continued, with relative success, his activities with the band The Breeders, which was still in existence while the Pixies were active, and also Havering and Santiago founded the Martinis.

In 2004 they joined a two-year tour, and in 2009 they united for a single performance in England. The following year, the band was due to arrive in Israel, but the flotilla events in Gaza and boycott calls prevented her arrival, and the show was canceled three days before it was scheduled to take place. The Israeli audience was compensated when the band arrived here in 2014 and again in 2017.

Since the comeback, the band has released three new albums, the last of which released this year, and has continued to perform together worldwide.
