Photographer Casilli chooses black and white to stop life in the Roman quarter in one shot (ANSA)

The story of a neighborhood through the faces and eyes of those who live there. Matteo Casilli , through 148 photos, also allows those who live elsewhere, in Rome and others, to read the true soul of Pigneto , a multicultural area where past and present intertwine. The watermark of these images reveals the sensitivity of the subjects, thoughtful and dreamy: they all seem to hide some imperceptible secret. "The project Roma, Pigneto - says a note from the publishing house - shows that photography is a means of preserving memory, delivering to our view the faces of other individuals who live at the same time as us in this world. The composition, the the use of light and its absolute predilection for black and white combine great immediacy with formal elegance.

Matteo Casilli was born in Rome in 1983. After graduating in Literature and Philosophy, he graduated in 2009 from the "Roman School of Photography". His photography is focused on the presentation of human portraits, to highlight the psychology that fascinates him so much. Among his photographic collaborations stand out those with Oliviero Toscani , in the realization of the book Firenze Santo Spirito and Terry Richardso in his New York period. Casilli has exhibited in several national and international group exhibitions. He also published the book Musician in 2016 where he recounted the new generation of emerging musicians with a series of black and white portraits.
