The straw hat on his head, the unmistakable underarm bag (and who knows what other wonders will come out of it) and that special magic formula of good humor, feelings and songs. After the success of 200 replicas and 200,000 spectators in Milan, with the parrot-handle umbrella, 'fly' to Rome 'Mary Poppins - The musical', a blockbuster production that brought to the stage for the first time in Italy and in Italian the story of the nanny that we all wanted, now the first title of the new season of the Sistine, on stage for over three months from October 17th to January 6th (and then again in Milan from January 30th to March 15th). A production signed by two giants of the genre such as Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher for Disney Theatrical Productions, based on a libretto by Oscar winner Julian Fellowes that takes so much from the stories of PL Travers as well as from the unforgettable Walt Disney film with Julie Andrews. Presented in Italy by WEC - World Entertainment Company, the show is directed by Federico Bellone ('Newsies', 'Dirty dancing', 'Some like it hot'), with Giulia Fabbri in the lead role and Davide Sammartano in those of the chimney sweep Bert. More live orchestra directed by Andrea Calandrini, choreographies by Gillian Bruce and 32 actors-dancers to tell how a bizarre nanny carried by a breath of wind can change the heart of a family. "In reality she doesn't come for the children, but to" save "their father, Mr Banks - the director tells -. The first time I saw the film I was eight years old. On stage we find all the most iconic moments of the film of '64, like the flight of Mary Poppins over the public or the songs we all remember ", plus new tracks for theatrical transposition signed by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, both winners of the Olivier Award. "But fishing from the stories of Pamela L. Travers - continues Bellone - there is added depth to some characters, for example in the portrait of gentlemen Banks and in the romantic relationship between Mary and Bert. Who is Mary Poppins? A woman with a great need of love. This apparent coldness of hers is a barrier to defend oneself. She just wants to be embraced and loved. " "For me - adds Giulia Fabbri - Mary Poppins is a whole world of poetry and color. It was my grandmother's favorite movie and when I was three, just with my brother we were too agitated and noisy, she put on the videocassette. "It is a great honor for me to play it today. I would like to be adopted by Julie Andrews", he laughs. Among special effects that will almost bring the public into Bert's watercolors, the all-Italian set from Milan arrives in Rome enlarged by 30%, "just at the request of Cameron Mackintosh" and for once will be a school in the world of musicals. "The scenic layout - anticipates Bellone - seems to be lucky enough to become a new format in the rest of the world" and in other international productions of the show. "I fell in love with it immediately, as soon as I saw it in Milan - commented Massimo Romeo Piparo, in his seventh season at the helm of the Sistine - Bellone was here last year with The bodyguard and will return with Ghost. And Mary Poppins is a show worthy of a great season opening, a Disney title and first time in Rome for a musical so international ". "Rome - confirms Alessandro Padovan for WEC - is a difficult city, so beautiful that people already have so much to see. But since May we have sold over 20 thousand tickets and we have many surprises in store".
