(ANSA) - LONDON, DECEMBER 6 - The commander of the London fire brigade, Dany Cotton, 50, the first woman to hold the position, announced today her resignation at the end of the year after the accusations that invested her in a first report on the deadly fire of the 2017 Grenfell Tower.
Cotton will leave 4 months before the deadline expired and his step back was greeted with relief from the associations of the families of the victims and survivors of the stake that two and a half years ago devastated the popular skyscraper on the edge of Chelsea, in the heart of the British capital, causing the deaths of 72 people including young Venetian architects Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi: associations that had long called for their removal, also requesting a criminal investigation into her.
