Iran: UN, 7 thousand arrests in protests

(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, DECEMBER 6 - At least 7,000 people would stay in Iran during the violent demonstrations over the last few weeks against the rise in petrol prices. He is denounced by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, adding that he has obtained "verified videos" in the security forces of the Islamic Republic shooting at protesters, with apparent intent to kill. Denouncing "serious violations of human rights" in the repression of the epidemic, Bachelet confirmed the balance sheet of "at least 208 deaths" established in recent days by Amnesty International, according to which the real number could be much higher.
The High Commissioner of the United Nations has specified from the cantosuo that there are news of a number of victims that it would be "the double", but his office has not succeeded until now to verify them.
According to the US the deaths could have been "over a thousand".
