Kindergarten group comes to adoption date of five

A boy from Michigan has a new family. His kindergarten friends made the day of his adoption something special - not just for the five-year-old.

They probably made a special day for five-year-old Michael even more special: when the kid from Michigan with his nurses at the Kent County Court had the date for his adoption, his entire kindergarten group accompanied him. The district reported on Facebook.

A photo shows how the children in the auditorium wave paper hearts. "I've never experienced that, and it was a lot of fun," said Judge Patricia Gardner, according to Fox News. "The kids were there supporting their best friend and Michael's family." The trip was organized by Michael's educator Kerry McKee, as CNN reports.

Andrea Melvin and David Eaton were Michael's foster parents before they adopted him. For his father, a moment on the day in the court was apparently very special: his favorite part of the adoption had been when the judge asked those present what the boy meant to them, he told CNN. The children would then have said, for example, "I love Michael" or "Michael is my best friend".

At the so-called adoption day in Kent County, Michael and 36 other children were welcomed by their new families "affectionately and officially", wrote the district in another Facebook post. There was "not a dry eye" in the courtroom.
