Where do hipsters, communists and alternative cultures meet?
In collaboration with the Polish Institute of IsraelWill Brooklyn happen? In Berlin, do you hear more English than Brooklyn? Get to know the next alternative destination! A place where the gap between communist and capitalist culture still allows true alternative and subversive art to grow! in brief? Poland. Vibrant Warsaw, classic Krakow, subversive Wroclaw and more.
In vibrant Warsaw, the parade square, the Plac Zbawiciela, has become a magnet for the hipster scene. In the city center you will find the 'Palace Culture' ("Palace of Culture") skyscraper from the 1950s which today has theaters, a concert hall, bars and a cinema. In short, communist architecture meets culture. The alternative Prague neighborhood has the Soho Factory - industrial buildings converted into an art-blasted complex, boutique shops and local food with a twist. And don't miss the Polish Vodka Museum, a 19th-century factory that is the most post-industrial. In Warsaw you will find about 58 museums, countless live performances, street art and indie theater and no less important, all at prices that will remind you of how expensive the country is.
In classic Krakow things are super interesting too! The city is undergoing a process of gentrification and is becoming an innovative and technological hub. But without giving up her classic vibe. There are plenty of cool electronic music festivals like the famous UNSOUND festival. And what about classic culture you ask? Krakow's Old Town is considered one of the UNESCO heritage cities and has an infinity of classical music and cultural performances. It's not just a cultural capital!
Insidious Boroclaw has so many cool places like the Neon Side that has live shows and neon lights or the Vinyl Cafe where you can buy second-hand records and transfer the hangover from Neon Side. There are countless street exhibitions in the city and many of them in the spirit of 'Post Punk' and especially notable at the New Horizons Film Festival International Film Festival.
So Brooklyn is expensive and Berlin has traded? what? Haven't you been to .... yet? have to! But it is worth checking out Gdansk, Lublin and Poznan before everyone knows.
