In Hamburg, homeless people will in future be able to take a shower, wash and dress themselves in a specially modified public transport bus. The shower bus of the non-profit GoBanyo project is supposed to be officially launched on Saturday for the first time.
"It's a nice room, you just feel comfortable there, it's dignified and you have a lot of space," said initiator Dominik Bloh at the presentation of the bus. Bloh was homeless for a very long time and often missed a shower. Therefore, he launched a crowdfunding campaign that brought together more than 168,000 euros. (Read more about Bloh's story here)
Three lockable bathrooms and a clothing store are housed in the discarded bus of the Hamburger Hochbahn after months of rebuilding. Officially, there are about 2,000 homeless people in Hamburg. According to GoBanyo, the number of unreported cases should be much higher. In Berlin, a shower bus has also recently started its service. There is a range of homeless women.
