Fans of "Star Trek" may remember: In the episode "Charlie X," Robert Walker Jr. played the survivor of a shuttle crash that strikes alone on the planet Thasus for years before Captain Kirk and his crew rescue him.
Now Walker, aka Charlie Evans, died at the age of 79. This has been reported by his family, according to the official "Star Trek" homepage. A cause of death was not named.
"Charlie X" was one of the earliest episodes of the cult series. It was first broadcast in September 1966. Its author Dorothy Catherine Fontana died last Monday at the age of 80.
Robert Walker Jr. has starred in numerous other well-known films and series, including Bonanza, Dallas, Route 66, Charlie's Three Angels, Columbo, and Easy Rider.
