An Indian woman who was attacked on her way to the court was killed. The report said several media, citing the authorities, including the BBC and the news agency AP.
According to police, the 23-year-old wanted to take a train in the district of Unnao on Thursday morning to attend a hearing in her case. She had filed a complaint about a rape. Several men attacked her, according to the investigators, including at least one of her alleged torturers. Five suspects are in custody.
The woman came to a clinic in New Delhi with serious injuries. The woman died of a cardiac arrest, as the head of the department for burn injuries now said.
"Extremely sad"
The woman had filed a rape case in March. It had come to the incident in December 2018. Two alleged perpetrators were initially detained, according to police, but were released on bail.
The case caused indignation in India. MP Supriya Sule tweeted, "Enough is enough." She was "extremely sad" in the face of the woman's death.
Recently, the rape and murder of a 27-year-old veterinarian in a suburb of Hyderabad sparked protests. The woman was raped in the first investigation, a few days ago by several men, then doused with gasoline and burned.
