ROME - It is not Christmas without panettone: this is said by 53% of a sample of interviewees of a Bva Doxa research on eating habits in the Italian regions during the holidays. From the market analysis, commissioned by Motta, it emerges that the typical dessert of the party is consumed from 30% a lot before December 25th and that is already starting from the beginning of November, as soon as it appears on the shelves.

42% do so instead a few days before the holiday and only 19% manage to wait until the eve for the first bite. It is therefore a must for the Christmas celebration: in case of forgetfulness in the purchase of the typical cake, 8% would buy it immediately in supermarkets. Instead the rivalry with the Pandoro is contained: the two desserts find space on over 75% of the tables, with 85% that usually consumes Pandoro during the holidays, while 79% do not miss the panettone.

The panettone, if it is then considered for many the ideal dessert at the end of the dinner, finds an increasing share of consumers who choose to eat it also at other times of the day: 48%, for example, soak it in coffee and milk for breakfast , while 38% make it the perfect snack. The "irreducible" of the panettone are also registered: 12% declare that they consume it instead of a whole meal.

From the point of view of consumer tastes, the chocolate version is chosen by 48% of those interviewed followed by 45% who prefer classic panettone (raisins and candied fruit). Finally the appreciation for the versions without candied fruit (38%) and for that stuffed with creams of different types (21%) is increasing. 6% like it in every variation.
