(ANSA) - MILAN, DECEMBER 10 - Lombardy is the Northern Italian primation (and the seventh at national level) for a number of verified environmental crimes with 1,541 crimes (equal to 26% of those disputed in 2018 between the northern regions) and is also the first region in Italy for the number of persons subjected to restrictive precautionary measures with 23 people.
In particular, 535 environmental crimes concerning the illegal cycle of waste, (equal to 6.7% of the national total).
This was revealed by the Legambiente dossier 'Ecomafia: data and numbers of environmental illegality and eco-mafia in Lombardy', presented at Palazzo Marino, in Milan.
In the last year, moreover, in Lombardy 12 of the 100 investigations were held for corruption and crimes against the public administration in the environmental sector with 110 arrests, bringing the region to the third place in the national classification for environmental progress.
