They convinced a jury of the highest level and are now available on the market, ready to satisfy the most demanding palates. The best mountain pasture Fontine produced in 2019 in the Aosta Valley, those that hold the Modon d'or and Médaille d'or brands, can be found in all the businesses that adhere to the initiative and to the Marché vert noel, the traditional Aosta Christmas market open until 6 January 2020.

Sweet taste, soft dough, melting in the mouth and the unmistakable scent of mountain flowers: during the summer the Valdostan producers gave their utmost to make them. But only the best forms can boast the Modon d'Or brand (score higher than 90/100) and the Médaille d'Or (over 80/100).
The competition is organized by the Tourism, Sport, Trade, Agriculture and Cultural Heritage Department of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, in collaboration with the Chambre valdôtaine des entreprises et activites libérales and with the technical-scientific support of the Consortium producers and protection of the PDO Fontina and the Milk and Fontina Producers Cooperative.

"The Modon d'or is a fundamental initiative for the improvement of the dairy sector in our region and for the promotion of one of the excellences of our food and wine supply chain", explains councilor Laurent Viérin. “Through the enhancement of Fontina, - he adds - on one hand we aim to gratify the work done with commitment and professionalism by our breeders and on the other to guarantee an integrated promotion of the Valle d'Aosta volet that combines territory, nature and gastronomic typicality. It is precisely in this sense that we work as a department with care and great commitment to the competition dedicated to Fontina, in the belief that the symbol of our Alpine authenticity should be appropriately valued as a witness of quality for the entire agricultural supply chain and for our territory ".

The winning farms were awarded on Saturday 7 December in the evocative setting of the Bard Fortress. Three went to the Modon d'or: Attilio Yeuilla - Alpeggio Maisonette of Avise, Société agricole La Coccinelle - Alpeggio Grimondet (Gressan), Po.ma by Claudio Pomat & C. - Alpeggio Comba Zerman (Etroubles). The Medaille d'or has been assigned to seven producers: Pra d'Arc farm - Pra d'Arc pasture (Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses), Piera Belley - Ersaz pasture (Valtournenche), Francesco Bredy - Pleytau pasture - Berovard (Ollomont), Simple agricultural company Chatelair - Tzoublanc mountain pasture (Ollomont), La Vignettaz di Fulvio Chabloz & c. - Plan de l'Eyve mountain pasture (Gressan), R.
