Something to drink and eat? An airline offers in-flight cups of edible coffee
In an effort to reduce the amount of waste produced on the flight, Air New Zealand offers cups made from cookies. However, there are some who claim this is a tiny change compared to the negative effects that the aviation industry is causing. And yes, the cynical reactions were not late

New Zealand's national airline has announced that it will begin offering its customers cups of edible coffee as part of a new experiment aimed at reducing the amount of waste produced during a flight.
Air New Zealand's unique cups are made by a local company called Twiice and are made of vanilla flavored biscuits. The glasses were also reported to be "leak-proof".

Drink coffee - and serve with dessert
"The new glasses were tried both in the air and on the ground," the company statement said. "This is part of efforts to find original methods to address environmental issues and sustainable challenges." It was also reported that "the cups have become a big hit among customers who used them. We also used them as bowls for desserts."
Jamie Kashmore, co-founder of the glass-making company, said "they have a real positive impact on the environment." The BBC reports that Air New Zealand uses more than 8 million disposable cups of coffee each year, and the new experiment is intended to bring ecological news. It has also been reported that the company recently switched to disposable disposable cups made of paper or corn. These are served in both aircraft and corporate lounges.

However, there are those who believe that the new experiment has no real environmental change. This is due to the fact that in the UK alone, 2.5 billion disposable glasses are discarded every year, with only 0.25 per cent being sent for recycling.
On social networks, there were those who argued that more change was needed than the use of edible coffee cups. It is no secret that flights have a clear impact on greenhouse gas emissions due to the massive fuel burn. The result, of course, is a crucial "contribution" to global warming.
"It's good to meet an airline that is trying to mitigate environmental impacts. Ah, wait a minute ...", environmentalist reporter George Monboy tweeted in his Twitter account.
"What about reducing pollutant emissions? Instead, you might just cancel one flight a week to London," another user tweeted.
And if that is not enough, Air New Zealand has even had to respond to issues that have arisen on social networks regarding dietary issues. For example, one of the vegan responders replied that the cups contained eggs, while the manufacturer said that in addition, the cups contained gluten and a dairy residue.
Either way, the company said that during the trial period, the edible cups would be available on all its flights.
