After shooting in a city near the US metropolis of New York, according to the local mayor, several people have been killed. Among them was a policeman, said Steven Fulop in Jersey City. He spoke of two incidents in close proximity to each other. It was found in a building "several deceased". In addition, at least three police officers were either shot or otherwise injured, had the Governor of the State of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, previously stated.
The background of the incident initially remained unclear - apparently one or more offenders had opened the fire. US media reported an ambush in a drug raid. The attackers would have entrenched themselves in a grocery store.

Residents should not leave adjacent buildings, since the situation is not over, Murphy wrote initially on Twitter. Adjacent schools had been secured to take care of the children.
The White House said that US President Donald Trump had been informed about the situation. According to James Shea, there are no indications of a terrorist background from the local public security agency.
