Visco: growth will depend on women participation

"For Italy the potential growth forecast for the coming years will depend heavily on the hypotheses about female participation, which turns out to be a fundamental engine". The Governor of Bankitalia, Ignazio Visco, said this at the conference 'Gender Gaps in the Italian economy and the role of public policy'. Visco recalled that female participation, with 8 million inactive women, is relevant in quantitative but also in qualitative terms, given that "women have high levels of education", skills and abilities marked in crucial sectors, such as communication and interpersonal relationships.
