Juice Wrld may have died of an overdose of painkillers

A few days after the death of US rapper Juice Wrld, the police have posted new information: The 21-year-old suffered a seizure while police searched his baggage at Chicago airport, a spokesman said, confirming a report by Chicago Tribune ".

Federal officials and city police had expected the rappers, whose real name was Jarad Higgins, and his companions on Sunday at the airport. In the luggage from the musician's private plane, they found marijuana, prescription cough syrup, weapons and ammunition.

When Higgins began to cramp, an official administered the emergency drug Narcan. It is given in suspected opioid overdose. The girlfriend of the 21-year-old had said that the rapper had taken the painkiller Percocet, said the police spokesman. Higgins was therefore briefly awake again, but was confused.

Rescue teams were unable to rescue the rappers: About one hour after landing, he was declared dead at 03:41 in the hospital. An initial autopsy did not produce a clear result. The Forensic Medicine therefore announced additional tests, including a toxicological study.

Funeral in Chicago

The musician should have performed at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles this weekend. On Friday, a memorial service is planned in the Millennium Park in Chicago.

The 21-year-old had his breakthrough with the track "Lucid Dreams" in 2018, he had great success recently with his album "Death Race for Love" this year. He was one of the generation of so-called cloud rappers who became famous on the internet thanks to streaming platforms.

The artist also collaborated with famous colleagues, such as Lil Uzi Vert, Ellie Goulding and the rapper Future. With the latter he recently recorded the track "Wrld on Drugs", in which he addressed his own drug and pill consumption.
