TURIN - The self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci will be exhibited until 8 March 2020 at the Royal Library in the exhibition "Leonardo's time. 1452 - 1519", organized by the Royal Museums. Present until the summer at the Galleria Sabauda in the review "Leonardo. Drawing the future", the portrait had to stay away from the light for some time: the paper support on which it is imprinted, in fact, is delicate and needs periods in the dark.
The new exhibition covers over sixty years of Italian and European history. The first vault, the Leonardo Room, hosts a selection of works by contemporary Italian artists to Leonardo, next to the Code on the Flight of Birds. Nine autograph drawings by the maestro from Vinci accompany the famous Self-portrait. The second room presents illuminated manuscripts, incunabula, sixteenth-century works, precious antique geographical maps, drawings and engravings, flanked by a rich didactic kit, to illustrate the characters and the main historical events that occurred during Leonardo's life.
