Summing up the last decade, which began in 2010 and ends at the end of the month, one of his significant trends seems to be the strengthening of television in the face of cinema. The streaming and VOD services have changed the world of viewing habits and created the binge watch. As a result, the TV series has become a cornerstone for talents and many have become a standard of quality.

From year to year the amount of TV shows and shows has grown. In the US, we talk about more than 500 feature series that come out each year without mentioning reality shows. From that offering, we chose ten series, or, in fact, nine series and one reality show, which were the most prominent and important of the decade.

1. Breaking Bad (2008 - 2013)

One of the popular plot trends of the 2000s was the anti-heroes, ones that aren't necessarily role models but we find ourselves cheering for them: from mobster Tony Soprano to serial killer Dexter. "Breakthrough," released in 2008, focused on the story of Walter White, a self-taught chemist who makes and sells a crystal-type meth drug as a way to secure his family's financial future. This is after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Walter White played genuinely Brian Cranston, and the plot developed as the tension grew from season to season. Viewers waited to see where this train was going and when it would crash. Five seasons ended in an exemplary crescendo with a glorious ending season that officially transformed Vince Gilligan's work ("Dark Bags") into one of the best series ever.

The series' ratings started at 1.4 million viewers and gradually reached ten million viewers. In addition, "Breaking Bad" entered the Guinness Book of Records as the series with the best reviews, winning twice the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. Her daughter series is the prequel "Near the Sole," and also recently aired on Netflix movie "El Camino," which continues the series.

2. Fargo (since 2014)

In 2011, we became acquainted with the concept of an anthology series, one in which the plot line changes and the actors change. It happened with "American Horror" by TV filmmaker Ryan Murphy. Three years later, screenwriter Noah Howley took the Cohen brothers' iconic film "Fargo," turning it into an anthology series dealing with a murder mystery in a snowy landscape, featuring black humor and sharp scripts. The result was a peak of creativity. Throughout its three seasons, the series has ensured precise casting, including Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Kirsten Dunst, Carrie Coon and Ewan McGregor. On the poetic plot, Howley won with a firm hand, turning Fargo into a winning formula. By 2020, comedian Chris Rock is set to star in the fourth season.

3. Louis (2010 - 2015)

It is difficult to note the excellent arrangement of comedian Louis C. Chi. Without having to resort to the sexual harassment case that stained his career. This episode came just as Louis's career was at its peak, and although he returned to appear (and recently appeared in Israel), he seemed far from a comeback. But it is worth separating the episode from the "Louis" series, which was a creative breakthrough: a comic-melancholy series that crosses definitions of genres that included a biographical face. After "Louis" came a trend of series that inspired her, including those of comedians Aziz Ansari and Issa Ray and of course Donald Glover's "Atlanta". At "Louie" we got a derisive glimpse into KK's personal life. And to the taint of his profession. He himself was the creator, writer, editor and star of the series. He actually received a budget from the FX television network, but that ended the network's involvement. He did everything else himself. You can get angry at Louis CK. And you can't forgive him for his actions, but you can't deny the seal his series has left on the television industry.

4. Game of Thrones (2011 - 2019)

If one thinks that "dynasty" defined the Eighties and "Seinfeld" defined the nineties, then the past decade is entirely the decade of "Game of Thrones". The fantasy series invested in HBO based on George R.'s books. R. Martin gradually became a world-wide phenomenon. She broke cable ratings records and officially holds an unprecedented number of 59 Emmy Award winners, more than any series ever. The experiences of Westrose residents, combined with the tremendous production that characterized them, will be remembered as a television victory. The filming and production, the locations and the special effects were the standards of a blockbuster movie. The huge budget of the series has grown from season to season, and it alone will peak as a few more years. True, the series reached the finish line with a particularly disappointing farewell season at the plot level, but no other series in this ranking had dragons.

5. Bike of the UK (since 2010)

In a decade when reality took over the prime time, the British BBC network was surprised with a kind and charming format that had every connection between it and the trump of reality shows completely coincidental. In this amateur baker competition, there are no dirty impeachment fights, no self-guided mentors, no vicious send-outs, no production interference and no shameful stereotypical casting. The judges are not as big stars as the judges in the genre of competing cooking shows (for example Gordon Ramsay's plans). At most, one can come across a contestant whose chocolate mug dropped or visualize the visual wonder of a layer cake in the shape of the Sistine Chapel. There is no monetary reward, poetry in Yavne or purchase slips, but just a pat on the back. All of these have created a unique Pomet, full of magic, proving that it is possible and worthwhile to make a different reality. In the meantime, the format made aliyah to Israel, hoping that the local version would not develop into a classic trash reality.

6. Whip (2012 - 2019)

Elaine Who? After years of battling Julia Louis-Dreyfus with the infamous "Seinfeld" curse (the one that presumes that the Native American exemplary series will never recapture its success), this excellent comedic actress managed to do the impossible. This is thanks to the image of U.S. Vice President Selena Meyer, whose presidency is a touch away, but eludes her repeatedly. In the seven seasons of "Whip," Mayer managed to entertain viewers as she was surrounded by a colorful entourage of Washington DC-inspired figures. Louis-Dreyfus has six consecutive winners of the Emmy Award, and overall she is the most decorated actress in Emmy history with 11 figures in aggregate.

7. The Americans (2013 - 2018)

This suspenseful espionage drama takes place during the last years of the Cold War in the 1980s and focuses on two clandestine KGB agents operating in the United States for two decades. The two agents are played by Matthew Reese and Carrie Russell and they take on dangerous actions as they exchange identities and wigs. Seemingly a series about a time that was and is no longer, but many talk about the relevance of the series at a time when the headlines are about Russia's intervention in the US. The nerve-wracking drama, in which it was unclear if and when the pair of agents would be caught, ended a chord that brought the two back to Mother Russia. Behind the scenes of the series Reese and Russell fell in love and brought a child into the world.

8. House of Cards (2013 - 2018)

"House of Cards" was the first drama series developed for Netflix, and aired in February 2013. Since then, a lot of water has passed in the river, and Netflix has become a series monster that is only growing, but still a special place for "House of Cards," an American adaptation of a British drama that aired two decades earlier. so. The series was a fine delicacy that unveiled the ugly and brutal face of what is supposed to be happening in the corridors of government, the crooked and manipulative ways and the intrigues that Washington is full of. Kevin Spacey did a masterpiece as Frank Underwood, but then came the accusations that he sexually assaulted boys, and Spacey became an industry leader and had to quit the series. The sixth and final season was already led by Robin Wright, who played Spacy's wife in the series.

9. Transfer (2014 - 2019)

Amazon's groundbreaking series dealt with the mentorship of Teacher Pepperman, a retired Jewish professor who decides to step out of the closet to his children and become a transgender woman. This step raises questions about sexuality and gender in the children, all spiced up by the entertaining dynamics of a modern American Jewish family. He played the role of a teacher with great talent Jeffrey Tambor, but he, like Kevin Spacey, had to face charges of sexual harassment as a result of the Me Too wave. Following the accusations Tambour was left out of the series. At first, the filmmakers talked about continuing the series without him, but since the plot revolved mostly around the character played by Tambor, without it, it ended in a dead end. The solution was a TV movie in a musical version that would end the series. The film came out last September and was far from leaving a seal or restoring the accolades it raked out.

10. This New Black Orange (2013 - 2019)

A few months after Netflix's "House of Cards" came up, the streaming giant "Orange is the New Black" is emerging in a women's prison. Creator Genji Cohan's series ("The Neighbor's Grass") began with Piper Karman's true story and imprisonment, but quickly caught on and gave a wide range of stories of women of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Who said microcosm of our lives and did not accept? The characters' stories were used in flashbacks to add depth to their life story, and in the midst of all this social and political criticism was intertwined. Another bonus was the wonderful soundtrack that accompanied the series, including the theme song by Regina Spector. Quite a few anonymous actresses owe this series their career, and Netflix can also see it as an important milestone that has helped the streaming giant on the map when it comes to source productions.
