Caesarea is mentioned in 12th place out of 50 places, but it is ranked according to the Latin American and not according to a particular score. "The successful match between antiquity and modernity is attracting more and more visitors to Caesarea - a coastal town and national park in northern Israel - which lies along an ancient Roman port of 2,000 years," the site said.
The writers also recommend visiting the new visitor center, named after Herod, the King who founded the city, and built arched vaults that stood beneath the temple, presenting recently unearthed archeological finds, such as colored mosaics and gold coins extracted from ships that drowned.
"You should look out over the ancient port of Helena Restaurant - which sits along the beach serving Israeli foods and wines. Then, you should review the remains of the bathhouses or Roman breakwaters, columns and other ancient objects near the dive center."
The site's editors also recommend spending the night at the elegant and refurbished Dan Caesarea Hotel, which belongs to the descendants of the Rothschild family.
