The man from the Rhein-Main area, who wants to remain anonymous, confirms with his statements official explanations for the success of the investigators at the time. He says that a friend and business partner discovered mushroom pickers in a forest near Offenbach first of all as a hiding place with weapons. Both had looked at the find together before going to the police.
The hiding place was the central depot of the RAF, in which money and references to further locations in Germany were buried. The terrorists Brigitte Mohnhaupt and Adelheid Schulz were caught in front of the central depot in November 1982. Shortly afterwards, RAF cadre Christian Klar was arrested at a depot in the Sachsenwald near Hamburg.
