The Mexican authorities recovered dozens of dead and body parts from a farm in the western state of Jalisco. After several weeks of work, the remains of a total of 50 people were found on the homestead in El Mirador south of Guadalajara.
The investigators had received the clue from suspects in police hearings. As a result, the authorities came across the site in November and began exhuming, local media reported. More information about the background should therefore only be communicated after further investigations.
Mexico has had a massive problem with violent crime for years. Last year, over 36,000 murders were registered in the country, which has a population of around 130 million - almost a hundred per day. A gunfight in the state of Coahuila had recently killed 14 people.
