A ski hiker from Germany died on Sunday in an avalanche in the Austrian Kleinwalsertal. According to the police, the 60-year-old had previously climbed a 2000-meter mountain with his wife.
On the subsequent departure, the man triggered an avalanche. The 60-year-old was carried away and buried by the 400 m long and 50 m wide snow board. His wife was therefore not injured.
Eyewitnesses alerted the rescue workers, who were able to locate and rescue the man at a depth of three meters after about an hour. The attempts at resuscitation by two emergency doctors were unsuccessful.
