A hailstorm surprised motorists on Autobahn 29 near Oldenburg and led to a deadly mass collision. A 21-year-old, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was fatally injured, the police said.
As a result, a total of eleven vehicles skid and collided on Saturday afternoon. Paramedics cared for eleven injuries and took them to the hospital for treatment.
Ten of the eleven vehicles were so badly damaged that they had to be towed. The motorway towards Wilhelmshaven was closed until late at night. According to the investigators, the total amount of damage is likely to be in the six-figure range.
