Tel Aviv Municipality closed Levinsky Street to traffic in favor of pedestrian crossing in the popular crowded and busy market due to many visitors • Pilot: at least a year

Levinsky Market has become one of the most popular markets in Tel Aviv in recent years. From a "secret" marketplace to area residents and culinary discovery enthusiasts, it has evolved into a hot spot for groups, tourists, families and even nighties. But with the development also came the difficulties and the narrow Levinsky Street became increasingly crowded, as this is also the area where many business owners and tenants reside.

The many trucks and many vehicles in the area made him more busy than average, with at the same time the narrow sidewalks caused many of the street walkers to get off the road and march on him with no choice. After much consideration and joint decision with area business owners and surrounding street residents, the municipality decided to expand pedestrian public space at the expense of vehicles and this morning (Monday) began a one-year pilot in which the busy part of Lewinsky Street, between Market Street and Aliyah Street, closed to utility traffic vehicle.

As you can see in the video and photos taken this morning, residents and marketers seemed quite pleased with the surprising space, and even business owners, some of whom have been approved to take desks and chairs, can benefit from people staying in the market for a long time and not "fleeing" to nearby locations such as Sderot.

The municipality statement states: "The move, which is set to launch in conjunction with business owners and residents, is intended to preserve the character of the street as a vibrant and cheerful complex, and to assist businesses as much as possible. This move integrates with the city's policy of encouraging walking and increasing public space for pedestrians and cyclists. In the coming months, the municipality is expected to consider adding pedestrians and biased spaces for walking on other streets in the city.

"The Levinsky Market is one of the most popular and dynamic markets in the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and its name goes before it. The market, which is a central pedestrian hub and connects the Market Street and the Aliyah Street, contains multiple shops as well as cafes and restaurants for day and night visitors. The environment and the colorful population of the Levinsky Market attracts A diverse audience - ranging from young families and businessmen to tourists and visitors from all over the country, who want to experience the market experience.
