For a number of years now, El Al's planes have each been named as cities and towns in Israel. So far, dozens of company jets have been named in cities such as Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Haifa, Beersheba, Jerusalem, Eilat, Caesarea and more, as well as names of communities such as Nahalal, Mishmar Haemek, Dalit El Carmel, Degania and more.
Now the airline has decided that its MTS 737-900 aircraft, which includes about 8 aircraft used by the company's customers for flights to European destinations, will be named after the localities: Kiryat Ono (EHA), Kiryat Bialik (EHB), Kiryat Ata (EHC), Kiryat Gat (EHD), Kiryat Tivon (EHE), Kiryat Yam (EHF), Kiryat Motzkin (EHH) and Kiryat Malachi (EHI).
As part of a festive event held at the EL AL offices, the company's CEO Gonen Ussishkin hosted the mayors of Krayot and their representatives and informed them of his decision to call the company aircraft in Navy 737-900, in the names of the eight Krayot in Israel, north to south.

The mayors were given a tour of the company's campus and were even impressed with the El Al Boeing 737-900, out of 8 aircraft on which they will appear later in the names of the crashes. Among the mayors who attended the unique meeting: Eliyahu Zohar, Mayor of Kiryat Gat, Eli Dukorsky, Mayor of Kiryat Bialik, Haim Tsuri, Mayor of Kiryat Motzkin, David Even Tsur, Mayor of Kiryat Yam, Israel Gal, Mayor of Kiryat Ono and Avram Dahari, Mayor of Kiryat Gat.
This is part of a unique project by El Al to name its planes on city names across the country. The name of the city is prominently written on the fuselage so anyone who boardes can see it.
Gonen Ussishkin, El Al's CEO, said: "We are delighted to call the Boeing 737-900 fleet on the names of the local communities in Israel, and are proud to continue the tradition of calling the company aircraft on city names in Israel. I want to thank the mayors who came to honor us with their presence. "
