The daughter of former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has been the victim of a break-in. Thieves reportedly cleared several safes with valuable jewelry at Tamara Ecclestone's London property on Friday. The 35-year-old model, who is also a reality TV star, lives in the chic district of Kensington.
A spokesman for the family confirmed to the British news agency PA, "Tamara and her family are fine, but they are obviously upset and shaken." Scotland Yard said there was a burglary and jewel theft operation on Friday evening, but the investigators did not give a name or exact address.
£ 50m worth of jewels
According to a report by the daily newspaper "The Sun", the value of the stolen jewelry is £ 50m, equivalent to almost € 60m. It is said to include a Cartier bracelet, a wedding gift worth £ 80,000.
Tamara Ecclestone lives with her husband Jay Rutland and their five-year-old daughter Sophia in a spacious town house near the Kensington Palace, which according to the "Sun" has 57 rooms. According to the report, the family had only just started their Christmas holiday when the thieves got in through a garden door. It was only after an hour that they were discovered by a security guard and fled.
A spokesman for the Ecclestones called on witnesses to report to the police. No arrests have been made so far, Scotland Yard said.
