Those who live in the lowlands and are still secretly hoping for snowfall should at least say goodbye to these wishes for the coming days: in large parts of Germany it will be more autumnal, in some regions it should even be noticeably warm.
"The warm front of a low near Portugal stretches across northern Germany and slowly turns further north," says the German Weather Service (DWD) on its website: "With a southern current, unusually mild air is brought in for the season."
The prospects are therefore not particularly wintery: According to the DWD, on Thursday it will remain largely dry with temperatures between around five degrees and 14 degrees in North Rhine-Westphalia and in the far south of the country. There is an intensifying foehn storm in the Alps.
On Friday north of the low mountain ranges are between 10 and 15 degrees, locally there are even up to 20 degrees in the Alps. Then the weather becomes a little more uncomfortable: There should be a lot of rain in the south, in many parts of the country it is often cloudy.
For Sunday and Monday, the DWD meteorologists forecast many clouds and frequent rains. Snow can only be expected temporarily in summit areas - however, it is windy, and stormy in the mountainous regions.
