Christmas with pets. Dog or cat, today your pet is considered to all intents and purposes a member of the family and as such it is treated, not only by returning its affection but by worrying that it has all the necessary care and attention to be well and happy, creating harmony in your own family environment. Here are 24 tips, almost an Advent calendar, drawn up by a team of veterinarians and dog trainers of the Ca 'Zampa Group with the aim of giving useful suggestions to families with animals. And the tips certainly also concern Christmas, a very popular occasion for Italian families but also loved by our little animals who can spend more time with their family in this period .:
1. HEALTH PLAN
The best gift is to make your pet feel good.
2. WALK TOGETHER
Even if it's cold in Christmas, remember that your dog needs at least an hour of walking a day.
3. EDUCATED AND MORE GOOD
One of the best resolutions of the year is always to be better. Give yourself sessions with a canine educator to be comfortable with your dog wherever you go.
4. CUDDLES At least once a day your dog needs cuddling: not all dogs, however, like hugs, rather a scratch behind their ears rewards them more.
5. WEEKLY BRUSHING
Brush your pet at home at least once a week: it's nice for him, you make him feel better and even your home stays cleaner.
6. LEARN TO KNOW IT
If you want to show affection to your cat, respect its spaces at home and its times: make sure it has a scratching post and a ball to play with. If it is not he who comes to you, do not chase him for caresses: he will come at the right time!
7. ALT TO FIRE!
Christmas is time for candles: be careful though to keep them out of reach!
8. THE PUPPY IS NOT A GIFT
A 4-legged friend cannot be given as a gift, it must be a conscious choice. Give free meetings with veterinarians and educators to learn more about what it means to live with an animal.
9. NO TO GLASS DECORATIONS
Beware of glass balls, cats mistake them for a game and breaking them can then get hurt. Decorations of wood, paper, fabric or ecological materials are more suitable and "cat-sized".
10. DOLCE SNACK
Find out how to make your pet's Christmas sweet. Meet a nutritionist veterinarian to talk about the goodies allowed in the Holidays.
11. FITNESS X 2!
Christmas is also a time for vacation and leisure. Try 6-legged training to have fun with your dog and stay fit.
12. BEWARE OF CHOCOLATE!
If you have a greedy dog, pay attention to the chocolate: it can be harmful - even if it is hardly lethal - just a few chocolates to have a stomach ache. If this happens, notify your veterinarian immediately.
13. BEAUTY BRUSH
If you have a long-haired animal the care of the coat is a must: get a groomer to recommend the most suitable brush for the hair of your pet.
14. GAME TIME
Take advantage of your free time on this vacation: play at home with your pet with a ball, throw and carry-out exercises, chewing games.
15. RESPECTS ITS NATURE
Always respect the nature of your 4-legged friend: do not force him with uncomfortable clothing except the veterinarian's recommendations and do not carry him in the bag as if it were an object.
16. NEW FRIENDS
Christmas is celebrated "together". Even your dog needs to play with other animals and other people, it is the season to organize new meetings for him too.
17. BEAUTY CASE PERFECT
It's vacation time: get ready to travel in the company of your pet by asking the vet and groomer for advice on what to put in the beauty case depending on your destination.
18. SAFE IN THE ASYLUM
Under the holidays the commitments multiply? You can leave your dog in a kindergarten during the day where they will take care of him, possibly with the supervision of a veterinarian and experienced staff.
19. GAME OF ... HEAD
Christmas Eve is approaching, have you already thought about which gift to put under the tree for your 4-legged friend? Mental activation games are a smart way to have fun together.
20. FIGHT YOU GET THEM!
The number of abandoned dogs increases during the Christmas holidays. Make sure it doesn't happen around you!
21. SHOPPING TOGETHER
Christmas shopping done together is more fun: in shopping malls you can enter with your dog but always keep it on a leash, prevent it from smelling the products or getting dirty out of the shops.
22. ROCK MUSIC
Even your pet has its musical preferences: during the holidays every so often you put on some reggae and soft rock music. These musical genres are preferred by dogs and can reduce stress.
23. COMBED AND SCENTED
It's party time and we all want to be the best. Switch to grooming to give your dog a Christmas-like coat!
24. NO TO BARRELS!
Beware of fireworks at New Year's Eve: it must be a party for animal friends too.
