Dozens of local and international musicians perform during the three days of the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival • We asked them for recommendations

The Tel Aviv Jazz Festival will be held this year from December 18-20 at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The festival will feature dozens of artists and ensembles from Israel and overseas, special source productions and tribute performances. Young immigrants in global jazz and in the country.

Trumpeter Sephi Zizling recommends Molto Estetka

Leave what you have in hand and want to hear musician Molto Estetka. Ethiopian Molto is the father of Ethiopian jazz style and the first African to study at Berkeley College of Music. After completing his studies there and admiring the New York musical scene, he returned to Ethiopia and developed the connection between Ethiopian music and jazz. He plays the vibe, piano and percussion. I saw him on the show twice and it's an amazing experience with amazing musicians.

For those who are unfamiliar - Ethiopian music has a special color due to some specific scales in which it is played, and Molto is its great representative and also the key. His performance is simply an experience whatever at the festival he will be celebrating his 76th birthday.

Maya Blizzitzman and Matan Efrat recommend Los Aurora

We chose the Spanish Los Aurora composition, the composition of five young men who play, sing and dance, a combination of jazz trio that was joined by singer Flamenco and dancer Flamenco. They perform excerpts of the great composers in Spain but also their original excerpts. The music is flamenco roots but with a jazz element, there is a combination of emotion, tension and sophistication and it sounds great, everything connects there. The combination of playing, singing and dancing create something that is both a pleasure to the ear and the eye. We'll be safe there.

    Daniel Zamir recommends Nathai Hershkowitz

Nitai is a composer, unique pianist and gifted musician. In recent years he has lived in New York and appears all over the world. I first knew him when he was a real teenager, 18, and he played with me. Since then, there has been a lot of water in the river and he also played with Israeli-international bassist Avishay Cohen and continued his independent career. Everything he does in music is always refreshing and most inspiring to me. Nitai and the band he will be performing with at the festival, playing together on and off for 15 years, so there is a very high level of communication there. I'm sure the show is going to be very special.
