Because thanks to the programming that this year offers titles for all sensibilities, the next days of celebration can be the right occasion to discover or rediscover the charm of a museum or to take advantage of an exhibition. From Rome to Milan, from the cinema of Sergio Leone or from that of Federico Fellini to the charm of the painting of the great Raphael or of neoclassical sculpture, there is really something for everyone.
ROME - "Once upon a time Sergio Leone" is the great journey into the world of the director who has become a myth with his films proposed to the Ara Pacis from December 17th to May 3rd: a multi-sensory journey, to get to know the cinematographic activity and deepen personal aspects, including films and photographs, costumes and sketches, family memories, interviews and unpublished documents (closed on 25/12 and 1/01). MILAN - For the first time the comparison between two giants of sculpture through 160 works: the great exhibition "Canova | Thorvaldsen. The birth of modern sculpture" continues until March 15 at the Gallerie d'Italia - Piazza Scala. The itinerary documents the different solutions adopted by the two artists, both capable of revolutionizing sculpture and its technique through classic and modern works at the same time (closed 12/25 and 12/30). Until January 19 at Palazzo Reale the great exhibition dedicated to de Chirico, the brilliant protagonist of 20th century art: in the exhibition the enigmas, the pictorial mysteries, the themes and the reflections of the artist are told closely to allow a portrait exhaustive and fascinating, through works from Italian and foreign institutions (always open, even Christmas and New Year).
URBINO - At Palazzo Ducale - National Gallery of the Marches the great tribute to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Raphael's death continues with the exhibition "Raphael and the friends of Urbino" until January 19: the project connects the birth and development of the pictorial revolution made by the great artist with the activity of his contemporaries (including Genga and Viti) and the context lived in the Marche town (closed on 25/12 and 1/01).
TURIN - Until January 26th at the Wunderkammer GAM it is possible to deepen the knowledge of the great writer and intellectual Primo Levi in ​​the exhibition "Figure": the route presents a selection of objects made of metal wire (mostly copper), all objects intended for shelves of the writer's studio or to be given to dear friends, in which his manual ability and imagination are manifested. The large monographic "Divine Acts" that Venaria Reale dedicates to David LaChapelle closes on 6 January: 70 large and very large works to fully immerse themselves in the visionary art of the American photographer. For the first time, some unpublished works from the new LaChapelle New World series (2017-2019) are also exhibited in which the artist expresses amazement at the sublime and the search for spirituality in tropical utopia scenes (always open except on 25 / 12).
RIMINI - Still a protagonist of Italian cinema and culture, this time at Castel Sismondo: it is the exhibition "Fellini 100 Genio immortale", from December 14 to March 15, staged on the centenary of the director's birth. An exciting, immersive and multimedia story, through films, costumes, photographs, drawings and many unpublished documents, to return the world of dreams and visions of Fellini, an artist capable of representing his generation and an entire country, but also of foreseeing the times.
REGGIO EMILIA - Man of cinema, writer, cartoonist, character with a strong political commitment, one of the protagonists of 20th century Italian culture, celebrated and studied in Italy and abroad: from December 14 to March 1 Palazzo da Mosto hosts "Zavattini Oltre the borders ", an exhibition that offers a portrait of the artist and defines his role abroad. Along the way documentary and iconographic materials (including original, typewritten and handwritten papers, handwritten notes, together with photographs, videos, posters and books) that tell all Zavattini's activities, as well as relations with other artists and intellectuals (closed only on 25 / 12).
NAPLES - At the Basilica della Pietrasanta the myth of Andy Warhol: until 23 February 200 works - including icons, portraits, polaroids and drawings - tell the father of Pop Art with its ability to upset any previous aesthetic definition (always open).
FLORENCE - "Enigma Pinocchio. From Giacometti to LaChapelle" is a tribute to Collodi's puppet scheduled at Villa Bardini until March 22: 60 works on display - including wood, iron and papier-mâché sculptures, paintings, bronzes, photos and videos - reveal the many facets of an icon of Italian culture (closed 12/25 and 1/1, open to the Befana).
