Klimt painting: doubts about a work would emerge from an expert

(ANSA) - PIACENZA, DECEMBER 22 - There would be doubts about 'Portrait of a Lady', the painting by Gustav Klimt found in recent days at the RicciOddi modern art gallery in Piacenza 22 years after the theft in the same place in 1997. From the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Piacenza leaked some indiscretions - unofficial - about a first appraisal carried out in the last hours by one of the consultants appointed by the judiciary to establish the actual authenticity of the work.
The whole affair, since the day of the discovery of the priceless on a shelf in the garden in a sack of scrubbing, is surrounded by an impenetrable reserve maintained by the investigators. The painting is currently located in a secret location, in custody, to be subjected to the necessary expert opinions.
Three experts have been assigned the task, and one of them, the first to have seen the canvas, would have raised the first doubts, even if at the moment it is not known whether these are technical and physical elements on the materials, or related to the painting and the technique of its author.
