Mariah Carey: "All I Want For Christmas" - Stars celebrate Christmas classics with video

Mariah Carey released "All I Want For Christmas Is You" 25 years ago. Celebrities congratulate the singer on her anniversary with a new music video - and conjure up "a big smile on her face".

Ariana Grande is there, Heidi Klum and Kim Kardashian West too: Around 50 celebrities can be seen in a new music video for Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

"It's one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received," Carey said on Twitter to her "friends and favorite artists." "You put a big smile on my face."

WOW! This is one of the best Christmas gifts I could ever have gotten. I am so thankful to all of my friends and favorite artists who participated in this video. You brought a huge smile to my face. THANK YOU! https://t.co/AM44lPkvkM pic.twitter.com/dIWOV3ljGO

In the clip, the stars, including singer Katy Perry, actors Ryan Reynolds and John Travolta, and moderator James Corden, move their lips to the Christmas song. Klum is dancing with sunglasses and a floral dress.

The modern Christmas classic by the US singer is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and made it to the top of the US charts for the first time. Just last week, the 49-year-old had released a new video for her hit, which also shows her eight-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

Carey released "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in 1994. Back then, the song made it to number twelve on the radio charts, according to Billboard. However, since it did not come out as a single, the piece did not even get into the Hot 100. The best placement was in 2018 - Careys Hit came third. Last week, it was the first Christmas song to top the charts in 61 years, Billboard said.

At the same time, "All I Want For Christmas" is Carey's 19th number one hit. The 49-year-old is now only one song behind the Beatles in the overall ranking. The fact that the evergreen made it to the top of the charts after 25 years - the song has been heard over 600 million times on YouTube so far - also has something to do with Carey's marketing skills: As Christmas approaches, Carey does not miss an opportunity to do that Piece to advertise.

Last month, Sony also launched a deluxe edition of Carey's "Merry Christmas" album with new versions of the all-time hit. And the music video was enriched with new archive material and published online.
