Funny children's words: attack of the killer sprats

2019-12-25T16:08:10.724Z

Thorn sausages come to the pizza shop: When children describe the world in their own words, it sometimes becomes absurd, often cute - and always funny. Have fun with the last episode of children's words.

It all started with the oat socks. That was what Frederik, now eight years old, called what he shoveled into himself in the morning. He also spoke of "Sambalamba" (instead of salamanders) and the "PKK" (instead of peppers). I found all of these childish new words so cute forbidden that I wrote about them - and you, dear reader, asked in the article to send me your favorite children's words.

That was more than four years ago. Again and again I have shared the funniest, most creative and most absurd children's words with you, and more importantly: you have shared them with me. In 16 episodes of children's words so far with exquisite creations such as salami louse, sneaker salad (instead of tuna salad) or Leberhorst.

Today, 6239 emails later, it's time to say thank you and goodbye. Thanks to all the loyal parents couch fans for the many submissions that made me a child's mouth linguist - it was a pleasure and an honor. Goodbye because this is the last edition of the children's words on the parents' couch.

In January the parents' couch moves here at SPIEGEL, we can't tell you everything yet, but we hope you will enjoy it.

So, read and laugh one last time at this point about how our children interpret the world day by day and create words with their words:
