The British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have registered the name of their non-profit foundation, Sussex Royal, as a brand. This emerges from a document published on the website of the Intellectual Property Office.
Trademark registration covers a wide range of products and services, from books to clothing to charity campaigns. An application for branded clothing refers to sportswear, dresses, headbands and jackets, while an application for "printed matter" includes newspapers and magazines.
This would allow the couple to start their own fashion line or publication under the royal Sussex brand. However, registration does not necessarily mean that the brands are used. However, the royals prevent the case that others can market products under their name.
Harry and Meghan founded the Sussex Royal Foundation this year and run it together with Harry's older brother Prince William and his wife Kate. Harry and Meghan's Instagram account also bears the name Sussex Royal.
Family vacation in Canada
The British Royals are currently spending several weeks on family vacations in Canada, where Meghan lived and shot for the US series "Suits" for seven years. Shortly before Christmas it became known that Harry, Meghan and son Archie did not want to spend the festival with the Queen at the Sandringham country house, but instead with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland.
Little Archie is the focus of this year's Christmas card from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. "We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From our family to yours," says the black and white card published by the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. Harry is president of the charity.
