The New Year's market is confirmed as one of the most dynamic for Italian hospitality tourism. For the New Year's Eve bridge (28 December 2019 - 1 January 2020) 83% of the accommodation available online is already booked. Mountain destinations are the driving force, where employment rates of 98% are recorded. This is what emerges from the usual monitoring conducted on the main Italian Online Travel Agencies by CST for Assoturismo Confesercenti . The regions with the best expectations are therefore those characterized by the mountains: Valle d'Aosta and Trentino Alto- Adige, in particular, are projected towards "sold out". Interesting results are also expected for Umbria (95%) and Tuscany (91% ), while with the exception of some regions of Southern Italy, the remaining areas have employment rates of over 80%. The good result of the New Year is in contrast with the overall picture of the holidays, which registered a disappointing start.
According to the usual forecast survey carried out by the Centro Studi Turistici on behalf of Assoturismo Confesercenti on a sample of 1,289 receptive entrepreneurs, overnight stays in Italian accommodation facilities for the holiday period this year should be around 12.6 million. A slight slowdown in the market , even if the trend for hotel structures (-0.5%) is certainly better than that expected for non-hotel businesses (-1.4%). The forecasts are more positive for mountain areas (+ 0.2% thanks above all to the increase in foreign demand) and lakes (+ 0.1% especially preferred by Italians). Values of substantial stability are expected, however, for companies in the spa and wellness offer, while percentage reductions have been reported by the receptive entrepreneurs of the cities of art (-0.9%) and rural and hill areas (- 0.8%). Finally, more marked drops are estimated for marine locations (-1.5%) and "other interest" (-1.5%).
