(ANSA) - TURIN, DECEMBER 30 - Roberto Rosso, the regional councilor who resigned after being arrested on charges of voting for political mafia exchange, also resigned as regional councilor and municipal councilor of Turin. A personal decision, states his lawyer, the lawyer GiorgioPiazzese, "gained in his conscience for respect for the institutions and citizens". "He was not obliged to resign - the defender said - his was an independent ethical choice for a sense of political responsibility".
Rosso, says his lawyer, is "aware of his own ownership of organized crime" and "hopes that the matter will be dealt with in the competent judicial offices, where he can and must find a solution".
