In 2019 over 122 thousand tons of electronic waste

In 2019 Ecodom managed 122,330 tons of Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) from Italian homes. A quantity comparable to the weight of 156 Red Arrow 1000 of 8 carriages. These are the data of Ecodom, which represents for the main Italian WEEE management consortium and reports an increase of 16% compared to the result achieved in 2018 (105,824 tons). The collection avoided the release of 849 thousand tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and a saving of over 153 million kWh of electricity.

Ecodom treats WEEE waste in each Italian region. Three Northern Regions, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Veneto followed on the podium, followed by Tuscany. Tail of Molise that takes the black jersey of the less virtuous region followed by Basilicata, which finished last in 2018.

Among the household waste managed by Ecodom in 2019, the waste from Group R2 (Large Whites) prevails with 76,042 tons (62% of the total). Second position for the R1 Group (Cold and Climate) with 38,451 tons (31%), followed by small appliances (4,553 tons, 4%) and by TV and Monitor (3,277 tons, 3%). The Consortium also treated 7 tons of light sources (R5).

"The results obtained are proof of a continuous commitment to protect the environment and the health of citizens - says Giorgio Arienti, general manager of Ecodom - are even more important if we consider that the WEEE sector is weakened by legislative deficiencies and by the lack of adequate controls along the supply chain ".
