(ANSA) - FOGGIA, JANUARY 3 - Roberto D'Angelo, the man killed yesterday in Foggia in an ambush, in 2016 was the victim of a beating by four thugs who tried to extort 80 thousand euros to his nephew, owner of a car park. The episode, according to investigators, is not related to the murder. D'Angelo was found by chance in the car park when the criminals arrived, they also fired a few gunshots, killing the guard dog of D'Angelo's nephew. "At the moment we are not ruling out any investigative hypothesis", explains the chief prosecutor of Foggia, Ludovico Vaccaro. "We are conducting technical investigations - he adds - as the acquisition of telephone records and videos of security cameras". Roberto D'Angelo, who was in charge of buying and selling cars, is believed by investigators to be extraneous to local mafia contexts, and his previous fraudsters and crimes against property date back to a long time ago.
In 1974 his father was killed near the municipal stadium.
