There will be 2 million 955 thousand (+ 4.8%) Italians traveling on Epiphany days. 96.8% will choose Italy as their holiday destination, 3.2% will go to foreign destinations. This was confirmed by Federalberghi, announcing the results of the survey prepared by the ACS Marketing Solutions institute.

Among holidaymakers, 1 million 528 thousand will travel for the Epiphany period alone (1 million 266 thousand last year); 631 thousand have already been on the move since New Year's Eve (379 thousand last year), while 796 thousand have planned the long holiday, from Christmas to the Befana (1 million 256 thousand last year). For those who will go on holiday exclusively during the Epiphany period, the average duration will be about 3 nights (3.2 for the 2019 Befana) with an overall per capita expenditure (including transportation, accommodation, food and entertainment) of 407 euros (stable compared to 406 in 2019), of which 402 for those who stay in Italy and 625 for those who choose abroad. The specific turnover of the weekend will stand at 620 million euros (514 last year, + 20.6%). Preferred accommodation will be the home of relatives or friends in 38.7% of cases, followed by the hotel with 27.4% (up from 26.6% last year).

"As confirmation of the exploit detected at the beginning of the Christmas holidays, an increase in Italian tourists has also been recorded for Epiphany who, once again, prefer locations within the Belpaese and do not give up their departure in the week following Christmas", he comments the president of Federalberghi, Bernabò Bocca. "Over one and a half million holidaymakers choose to leave in the Befana period alone, an increase compared to last year. This seems to highlight the tendency to choose perhaps less long but certainly much more thoughtful holidays". "Even the turnover recorded on the weekend of the party - concludes Bocca - moreover more than 20 percent growth compared to last year, shows the desire of the Italians to concentrate their expenses in relation to the trip, lived as an experience full of that attractiveness sought in advance and with great care ".
