Tens of thousands of people demonstrated Friday in Tehran, the Iranian capital, to denounce the American "crimes". The same morning, Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was killed in an American raid in Baghdad, Iraq. After Friday prayers, a crowd of Iranians took to the streets of the center of the capital, chanting "Death to America" and brandishing portraits of Soleimani, sometimes in tears.
General Soleimani was the head of the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic.
