The fashion of the 2010-2019 decade will be remembered for three major revolutions inextricably linked to the changes taking place in contemporary society. The first is the customs clearance of sneakers from sports shoes tout court to footwear for any occasion, even elegant. A revolution sanctioned by none other than Karl Lagerfeld, with his haute couture collection designed for Chanel in 2014, where he inserted precious sneakers, rich in flowers and embroidery, glittered and silver, placed under perfect suits, complete with tight trousers and short as jogging suits, cocktail dresses and even under long evening dresses in black and white lace. The visionary Lagerfeld understood that he had to capture the liking of the younger female audience already in the mid-90s when he proposed to the younger Chanel fans, sneakers also with evening dresses.
The second revolution of the decade concerns the awareness of the brands on the environmental situation with the consequent desire to put an end to the degradation generated by an uncontrolled production that is not very respectful of nature, choosing the recycling of plastics and waste materials, organic production cotton and the use of other natural materials. An example for all is the processing of denim , which becomes an eco-sustainable trend also in the couture version. Third revolution is the abandonment by important fashion names of a cruel fashion that used fur animals and feathers only to satisfy female vanity and millionaire earnings. It is the boom of fur free , called eco-fur and 'vegan' duvets, that is, padded with non-animal materials. After giving up the furs, Miuccia Prada launched the regenerated nylon bags. Fur free breakthrough also by Donatella Versace and Gucci.

Returning to denim, third revolution of the decade, Tru Blu is for example the name of the green capsule of the British brand Pepe Jeans London, which embraces the idea of a production process for collections that include garments and accessories made with fibers made from recycled materials . The capsule is a total look for adults and children, composed of jackets, jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, canvas sneakers and bags, made with recovered fabrics and characterized by the slogan "Be Life" and in natural colors. From Stella McCartney, conscious fashion pioneer with her Falabella eco-leather bag, organic denim is offered in the form of a jumpsuit and palazzo pants are finished with a graphic tie-dye motif in the ocean blue color. Sara Cavazza Facchini for Genny has looked at sustainability for some time. In one of the recent collections where the pilots' uniforms became overalls and the tatoos were transformed into graphics on tulle, thinking of the Dakar rally, the designer declared her desire to change, to look at the environment. Three garments, a jumpsuit, a mini-dress and a maxi dress were made of organic silk. The special edition was created with fabrics born from the collaboration with the Taroni company, as defined by the Greenpeace Detox campaign and in compliance with the requirements required by the Gots (Global Organic Textile Standards) certification.
Finally, it is inevitable to draw a parallel with the fashion of the 1920s, that linked to the "rebirth" after the First World War. Those between 1910 and 1919 were the so-called Roaring Years, a historical moment in which we tried to rebuild a decimated society and a period in which women began to impose themselves in roles other than those of mother and wife, abandoning first corsets and long skirts. Soon that became the era of the flapper girls: short hair cut to the 'boy', garconne dresses, cloche hats. Thanks to Coco Chanel, the first trousers appeared, the jersey dresses, the petite robe noire, that is the little black dress that entered the myth, the Chanel perfumes N.5 and N.22. A century ago, in the decade corresponding to the contemporary one, which will end on December 31, 2019, there was a real revolution in the world of fashion and costume. Will it be the same for this decade that is ending?
