Investigation into teachers for "gassing" statement

A teacher from a Hilden school is being investigated for insulting a student with a migration background. A spokeswoman for the Düsseldorf public prosecutor's office has confirmed this.

The teacher is said to have said to the student: "You don't have to grin here at all. Something like you would have been gassed earlier."

RTL first reported on the case: in June 2019, the math teacher is said to have commented accordingly. The student's German mother with Lebanese father had filed a criminal complaint. Several classmates had confirmed as witnesses that the statement had been made in this way.

"It was clear to me that this was his attitude to non-German children," the student's mother told RTL magazine "Punkt 12".
