2020-01-07T06:50:17.659Z

Firefighters in Australia have been fighting the bush fires for weeks. Actor Chris Hemsworth wants to support emergency services and the population. He also asks his fans for help.

Forest fires have raged in Australia since October, more than 2,000 houses were destroyed, and 25 people were killed nationwide. Although cooler temperatures and rain currently provide relief, the fire risk is set to increase again at the end of the week. The Australian actor has now called for donations to his country.

"What we need is your support and donations," said the 36-year-old in a video he posted on Instagram. He wanted to support the fight against fire. Therefore, he and his family donated one million dollars.

Hemsworth hopes that others will also support the local emergency services. "Every penny counts," the actor wrote on his clip. "Whatever you can find is very much appreciated."

Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I've added links to support the fire fighters, organizations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time. Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya.

The money goes directly to the firefighters, the people at the front line and the citizens and communities who would suffer from the fires, said Hemsworth. The actor is not alone asking for donations. Last week, tennis player Nick Kyrgios, one of the most famous athletes in the country, had made a call.

He suggested a charity match before the start of the Australian Open. In addition, he would donate $ 200 per ace that he would hit in the coming week, he wrote on Twitter. Kyrgios is one of the strongest servers with an average of 16.6 aces per match in 2019. A little later, other top Australian players joined his idea.
