The 2020 Oscars will have no host, just like last year

For the Oscar 2020 ceremony, the same will happen as in the previous edition and they will not have an official host.

Karey Burke , president of ABC Entertainment, which is owned by Disney and broadcasts the ceremony, confirmed that they will not have a host.

It was during the 2020 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour that Burke gave the information, "Let me confirm now, together with the Academy, that there will not be a traditional presenter this year."

However, Burke is optimistic, since he mentioned that during the ceremony there will be good times, "We will have many incredible elements that have come together and make us think that we will have a very entertaining show again."

For Burke, the main objective is to ensure that the ceremony is kept below three hours and also the baton of the ceremony will be performed by the same actors and actresses, so as to speed up the show, "The producers decided wisely not having a presenter and the presenters and the movies were the stars. It's the best way to keep the show energized for three hours, "said ABC Entertainment president.

Last year, the one chosen to conduct the ceremony was actor Kevin Hart , but after announcing it, a strong controversy arose because in the past he had made several homophobic publications on Twitter.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences demanded that Hart apologize for his comments, but the actor refused to do so because, he said, he had already done it several times in the past, which caused relationships to break.

And so last year's ceremony was the first, since 1989, not to have a special host.

The play seemed risky, however the transmission generated very good numbers. According to E! News the total audience of 2019 was 29.6 million, which meant an increase of 13%.

In December Kevin Hart mentioned to Variety magazine that he would be willing to conduct the Oscar ceremony, "Hey, I have nothing but love for the Academy," said the comedian, but it seems that his opportunities have vanished.

The 2020 Oscars will air live from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday, February 9.
