Singer Justin Bieber announced Wednesday that he is suffering from Lyme disease, a medical condition caused by exposure to the bacteria most commonly carried by ticks.
The pop star shared the news to millions of followers on his Instagram account. "While a lot of people went on to say that Justin Bieber looked like shit, Crystal meth addict, etc., they didn't realize that I had recently been diagnosed with Lyme disease," the 25-year-old singer wrote, answering his critics online. "Not only that, I also dealt with a severe case of mono (infectious mononucleosis) that affected my skin, brain function, my energy and my overall health ... These things will be explained in more detail in a documentary series that I will be posting to YouTube soon."
Among the symptoms that bring with it Lyme disease include frequent headaches, chronic fatigue, depression and skin rash. If patients are not receiving proper treatment, various systems in their bodies can be damaged, including the nervous system, heart and joints, and consequently cause great pain and suffering for the patient.

Bieber summed up the post and wrote "You can learn about everything I've fought for and overcome! It's been a tough two years, but I'm getting the right treatment to fight the cure, which has healed so far, and I'll be back and better than ever." This news comes just days after the release of "Yummy," his new single, the first in over four years.
The Justin Bieber: Seasons series, which will go online in late January, will give viewers a glimpse into the process of recording the young musician's new album, along with material from his spoken wedding with model Haley Baldwin as well as moments from his personal life. It is conjectured that part of the series will be devoted to dealing with the illness he was told about.
