After a stable 2019, the global consumer technology market will grow by 2.5% and the turnover should exceed one thousand billion euros. The development will be driven by the telecommunications sector (+ 3%), small appliances (+ 8%) and large appliances (+ 2%). As in the past year, the Asia-Pacific region will continue to represent the most important market, with a share of 43% of the global turnover. These are some of the forecasts of the analysis company Gfk on the occasion of the Ces in Las Vegas which closes today.

In particular, after a "turbulent" 2019, the spread of 5G will bring the telecommunications sector back to growth.

"The demand for smartphones - analysts say - will be driven by China and the emerging countries of Asia. Innovation, Performance and Premium will continue to be the main trends that will influence purchasing decisions".

According to the research, "innovation and sophisticated design are the characteristics most appreciated by consumers and 46% are willing to spend more on products that simplify life. This attitude is reflected in the growing success of products such as robot vacuum cleaners (+ 18% value), washer-dryers (+ 29%) and smartwatches (+ 48%) ".
